Car Design Rules

All cars must be designed according to these rules.

RULES FOR ALL CAR TYPES

Width
No part of the car, including wheels or add-ons may exceed 2 3/4 inches.
Length
No part of the car, including wheels or add-ons may exceed 7 inches.
Height
No part of the car, including wheels or add-ons may exceed 6-1/2 inches and must pass underneath the timer assembly.
Clearances
Bottom clearance must be 3/8 inches and 1 3/4 inches between wheels to straddle track center guide rails. Weights can be attached to the underside but should be placed in the center of the car.
Lubricants
Only dry lubricants will be allowed. Graphite is allowed, but please do not be excessive. Black graphite works better than white Teflon graphite. Wet, oily or greasy lubricants are not allowed. You will be allowed to add lubricant between race heats.

Weight
5.0 ounces or less
No Limit (within reason) - Recommend less than 16 ounces
Wheels
Official BSA wheels must be used. Lightened wheels are NOT allowed. Wheels may NOT be reshaped. The tread fluting, raised lettering, inside and out and other markings must remain intact and visible. Rounding, grooving, H-cutting, V-cutting, or narrowing of the tread surface is NOT allowed.
Wheels may be modified as long as width is maintained.
Outlaw wheels are OK.
Axles
Axles may be filed and polished to remove crimp marks and burrs. Axles must be attached directly to the wood body of the car.
No limitations to axles as long as car will fit on the track
Prohibited
NOT ALLOWED: springs, magnets, moving weights, mercury weighting, wheel bearings, wheel bushings, wheel washers, starting devices, propellants, glass, excessive fragile parts, loose objects
NOT ALLOWED: propellants, glass, excessive fragile parts, loose objects
